Motion Graphics

The brief was to create a Motion Graphics piece that captivates the style and mood of the dance genre. The fluidity and groove is what is at the essence of House. The fast-paced rhythm goes well with the urban background from which the genre originated.
The colours are very vibrant and keep the viewer immersed through numerous transitions and animations. The image-led objects, such as the speakers blaring denote a high level of energy being expressed through the visuals.
Having multiple scenes in this composition helps to keep the viewer engaged. Having an image-led style over a character dancing keeps the dance open to possibly new interpretations through abstract art.
Having a record player at the start of the composition not only serves as a harbinger to something being played, but is also a cultural reference to the ‘80s when turntables were used. Furthermore, the vortex serves as a literal step back in time, as well as a nice segue.
The use of the Impact typeface on the record itself may guide more cultured viewers back in time. What makes the usage of this typeface even more astute is that this was used in image macros and internet memes not too long ago. This will help to target younger viewers, who haven’t grown up around the time of House.
